The Daisy in lilac-blue, she is sweet and unforgiving, relentless in her quest to be the better version of herself. Find her groomed, well-kept in gardens green, loved and always watered. Seek her out when she is wild, a wanderer who calls any patch of soil her own. Maybe she is white or pink or orange but she will always have a golden centre, a reminder that the best parts of her lay within. Her florets do not fall to the ground for a fool’s anguish, no ‘he loves me not’, always ‘I love each part of me too much to break.’ For too long she has been praised for her chastity, she the Daisy will bloom, will flower, will wink in sunlight at whomever she feels worthy. Call her Belides, Freya or Day’s Eye, she the Daisy belongs to the ram, the Aries. Beloved for her shine she plays muse to Wordsworth, to Shakespeare, famed in adoration. Never lost, she the Daisy belongs in every city, garden, hand who will hold her. She is strong and soft and kind and careful. She the Daisy is more than literature’s heroine, she is her own woman, she will talk back.
