Worn on chests, the Poppy a red reminder of loss, of gratitude. Not only pinned but shivering, Icelandic mountains she the Poppy calls home, her petals diverse in heart, in colour. Count to 50 then 60, there she stands tall, stands strong. So wistful is she the Poppy, her lovers consumed by sweet nectar, she will make them stagger and come back for more, her milk healing the medieval wounded. Find her only in places unexpected, at the end of yellow brick roads she will bloom, where dreamers pull and pluck her, a bouquet of affections they give in Oz, in Persia. She the Poppy will never fall flat for any other, she is righteous, never wronged, the flower that may never crumple in the hands of someone lesser. No boundaries to her desires for she the Poppy is no stranger to want, to hunger. Always craving for more, better, higher, she the Poppy will progress until success sprouts from her body; a new leaf. Uncontained by man she will grow in fields and meadows and garden-beds. Each fertile patch of soil she the Poppy will nest in and she the Poppy will burst.
